Pros

Mainly WFH Helping injured workers get appropriate access to health care benefits and educating them and other health care stakeholders is fulfilling. Good work life balance- better than bedside nursing as no weekends , evenings or holiday work- so better for childcare or other commitments Working in an Insurance-type environment is another scope of practice. other than hospital. Its another way to improve health care outcomes in a different setting. Its important work.. Good salary and benefits

Cons

Severe micromanagement You can't even go to bathroom without changing your ‘status ‘ on the computer. Your every move is tracked... HC decisions are made within a tight framework ( pro or con ) Lots of documenting and letter writing. Telephone heavy Impossible to finish your work within the work hours… Could be repetitive High case loads, even worse for bilingual Verbal abuse from angry workers, representatives , providers WSIB could do better to protect staff from bad behaviour Always under the threat of "Manager escalations" by impatient callers who "skip the line" by calling the Manager. Lack of control and autonomy over your work day because you cannot prioritize based on need but "Manager escalation". Limited and convoluted ability to move upward. Lack of respect from Senior Management.
