Pros

Flexible. Good work-life balance. Travel throughout the state as needed. Some supervisors are very hands off Leave your work at work. You have the opportunity to make an influence at the state level and advocate for the public.

Cons

Some supervisors are micromanagers You will not move up nor will you get a raise New people are hired in at higher rates that people who've worked there longer Management is lacking skills (don't like to deal with issues) Competent people are rewarded with more work. Limited professional development opportunities. You get dated really fast...

Pros

There is a strong emphasis on respecting others, great colleagues, different professional development opportunities, projects are important, lots of smart people, good mix of people with experience in schools

Cons

There are not enough staff to provide timely responses to questions from the field, procurement is a pain (but I guess it is probably like that in all state agencies), LTE employees have great skills but often gets jobs in or outside of the agency too quickly
