Pros
Good experience with high risk families and children.
Cons
Low pay - The pay is not equivalent to the work required for this position. Staring salary for a master's therapist is $15/hr with the expectation to have 8, hour long sessions per day. When I left my caseload was up to 152 kids. Disconnected Upper Management - While there is an understanding that working in CMH is not a profitable job, being paid $100 over the poverty limit so that you can't access and of the resources that you provide for the families you serve is unethical. Therapists should not be living in the same struggle that their patients are strictly because when a person (any person) is worrying about how they're going to eat, pay rent, or get gas to get to their job they're not being the best clinician they can be, Upper management makes rash decisions in regards to pay with no communication on how pay structure works or reviews. Some coworkers will get a $4 raise with 3 years of time at WellStone and some will receive $1.80 with 10 years at WellStone. Out of touch upper management will destroy this organization.
