Pros

The discount was generous and the people working at the store level are lovely and hard working.

Cons

West elm creates low-quality products, being sold for high prices with lengthy production times; as you can imagine this causes customers to be frustrated for a number of reasons. As well, they give local stores very little autonomy to solve customer service issues. This causes the staff at these stores to be bombarded with customer complaints with no solutions in hand other than referring them to (a rather unhelpful) customer service line. Most of the time spent at the employee level is working through CS issues. Cooperate requires their employees to meet fairly lofty sales goals when the furniture market is rather slow. Not only was this difficult to achieve with the numerous customer service issues at hand, but it's hard selling furniture that is so low quality for the price. As well, there is little to no incentive for the employees to want to make sales as there is no commission offered, and cooperate west elm does little to show appreciation to those on the store level. Oh, unless you make them a million dollars, then they'll give you a few thousand for all your hard work. There is no rhyme or reason to who is getting paid what. Just as much as cooperate does not care about their customers, they certainly do not care about their employees at the store level. Cons definitely outway the pros for this job.

Pros

Nice associate discount Creative work enviornment (at the outlets) Meeting new people Can’t speak for every store, But at least at mine there is good work life balance.

Cons

Not paid your worth. Your whole team will receive the same 50 cent raise as you no matter how much harder you worked than them or vice versa. You might be appreciated by those within your store, but outside? The higher ups couldn’t care less. Pushed to harass customers for credit cards
