Great pay, good benefits, travel opportunities. Compensation overall is respectable.
Cons
Working at WestUrban is the biggest regret of my career. I had high hopes for this opportunity. They wined and dined me, gave me a great offer, and talked to the moon about how exciting and "fun" it was to work here. This company only cares about the bottom line, and you will be forced into a culture that LIVES TO WORK and does not care about you as a person. I am writing this review so you don't end up like me... Stuck. The first thing to understand is that the management core is made up of family members. It's a situation where Bob's brother works here, his brother's wife heads up another department, Bob's sister-in-law and their kids work at the company, etc. It's this weird dynamic where you can never trust and speak candidly with someone before figuring out whether "they are in the family," a common term to describe the segregation and treatment of employees. As an outsider to the "family," you will never come first and you will have to bend your will and values to accommodate whoever is dealt as your manager or risk scrutiny. Nobody cares about you here. Never once during my employment has my manager asked, "How was your weekend?" or "What do you like to do in your free time?" Instead, after I attempted to have casual conversations with my manager and show a bit of my personality, my manager provided feedback that they simply "didn't have enough time in the day for unnecessary conversations that did not contribute to WestUrban's bottom line." Need I say anymore? This is what you are walking into. I heard nightmare stories from team members out of the family about employees being fired on Christmas Eve, employees being forced to relocate away from their families for extended periods, and management conducting terminations via 5-minute Zoom calls. Ultimately, if you have an offer from them, I encourage you to draw your own conclusions. Understand that you trade enjoyment and any comradely for a larger pay cheque. Let me help you get started with research; if you want to understand how this company operates, Google "trilogy residences Nanaimo" and "WestUrban Developments Ltd." for their head office in Campbell River. Read all of the Google reviews and see for yourself how they do business. Please be careful!
