Pros
Weyerhaeuser is a company that doesn't just talk the talk. They actually uphold the values they claim. When they say employee safety is the top priority they really mean it. Safety is actually a metric that has direct monitary impact on compensation from the executive management all the way down to the front line. This is also the reason that for 2008 they actually achieved a less than 1.0 recordable incident rate, and this is for a forestry company with loggers and mill workers. I think this is a testament to the leadership. 2007 and 2008 have been extraordinarily difficult times for the company financially. A great deal of extremely talented folks were let go. I can't say this for all of the areas in the company but I know that I felt like I was always in the loop with were we were and the reality of a layoff months before it actually happened. The strong ethical approach the leadership displayed really helped to emotionally deal with such a large layoff of some of the world's best talent in the industry. When things turn around for the economy, I have no doubt that this same leadership style will continue. There is a reason the company has been around for 109 years and a Fortune 100 company.
Cons
Not really enough vacation time compared to other companies. The rest of the benefits are great though.
