Pros

Whataburger is an iconic brand, deeply faith & family based, with patriotic roots in the state of Texas. With food quality and fresh ingredients as a focus, they are leaders in the burger segment. Opportunities for advancement in the home office abound if you make clear to your leadership team what your goals and aspirations are. Much time, money and effort is being invested in scaling up the infrastructure to support growth.

Cons

The company seems to be in a transitional phase - from small regional niche player to large corporate structure - as growth has become a key business driver. Long time family members (i.e. employees) rarely make market competitive salaries, even when promoted. Yet those hired from outside the organization typically are paid market rates. This has led to an internal "brain drain" as many of those employees steeped in the company culture have left to seek compensation aligned with their level of talent and have been replaced by outsiders who don't bleed Orange.

Pros

At the Kingsfield and Highway 29 Location, I found that the people I worked with made it worth it. The rush hours were sometimes quite fun when everyone was flowing well. Pay raises are yearly with your annual review. They encourage moving up in the company.

Cons

Customer Service can be terrible for your mental health. I received a 20-cent pay raise, though it was for one year.
