Pros

Good insurance, Good 401K Match,

Cons

Lack of Recognition: Despite over two decades of dedicated service, contributions were often overlooked or undervalued by management. No Career Advancement: Even after completing a bachelor’s degree to enhance qualifications, no meaningful opportunities for promotion or professional growth were offered. Toxic Work Culture: The workplace environment was heavily influenced by favoritism and nepotism, making advancement and fair treatment dependent on personal relationships rather than merit. Intimidation Tactics: Leadership frequently employed fear-based management strategies, creating a culture of anxiety and job insecurity. Limited Support for Development: There was minimal encouragement or investment in employee development, particularly for those outside the preferred inner circles. Bias in Decision-Making: Promotions, rewards, and recognition were inconsistently applied, often bypassing qualified and experienced employees in favor of those with personal connections. Poor Morale: The combination of undervaluing long-term employees, lack of advancement, and a biased management style led to widespread disengagement and dissatisfaction. Resistance to Change: Innovative ideas or efforts to improve processes were often dismissed or ignored unless championed by favored individuals. Undermining of Professionalism: Hard work and professionalism were frequently overshadowed by office politics, discouraging employees from striving for excellence.

Pros

Strong brand recognition and quality products. A bunch of great people.

Cons

Cult-like relationships: if you didn't grow up in Benton Harbor...Your boss did. I was recruited based on more than 25 years of multifamily housing experience and long-standing industry relationships. After joining, I discovered a substantial portion of my responsibilities involved government and commercial laundry accounts, which were not my area of expertise and were not what I expected from the interview process. The company appeared to place greater emphasis on standardized account management than leveraging established customer relationships and industry networks. For professionals hired because of their market knowledge and connections, this may be frustrating.
