Good Firm, but Pressure Cooker, Culture of Fear on Intl Trade Floor - Project Assistant Wiley Rein Employee Review

Pros

The overall firm is great - fun events, free breakfast pastries on Wednesday mornings, catered meals on occasion, awesome mail and copy room staff to interface with, a lot of bright minds in one place

Cons

It's an absolute madhouse in the worst way in the international trade practice - a testament to that is that they lose at least one project assistant or legal assistant every month and a half. Some legal support like myself quit for new roles but many quit without a backup because the role and expectations are that unsustainable and management is so aggressive and demeaning to staff. The hours are long and often include weekends, training is sporadic and inconsistent, and immediate supervisors have no management experience and treat staff like children. They do not let you explore other practices there after this one, and management chastises legal support for using late-work perks like a meal comp even though it is firm policy. The pay is nowhere near commensurate with the strain, future-lawyer or not. Stay away at all costs.
