Mental torture - Anonymous employee William Hill Employee Review

I have recently went through a disciplinary with WH. Was covering a 9 hour shift myself (no break included, had to sort that myself) as cashier called in sick. Immediate family member had taken seriously ill the previous night and I was awaiting phone call. Phone was at counter due to shop phone, like everything else in the shop, not working. Current manager was understanding, and continued to be so when I went off on bereavement due to said family member passing away the week after. During final meeting, another manager told me if it wasn’t for her death, I’d be sacked and “count that as lucky” and proceeded to downgrade my absence and “commitment to hills”. Believed it was an excuse to get out of trouble, no compassion for anything. Have no respect for staff, you’re treated like a robot
