Pros
The owner of the company and his son are very nice. The field employees and people who work at the corporate office are like family. If you work in the field it is more casual.
Cons
Where to begin? The other reviews are right, it is not the company it once was. The glory days are over. It's all about numbers now. Employees are not treated the same. If your job isn't directly contributing to the bottom line, the president/ceo and other executives WILL NOT SPEAK to you, let alone make eye contact to you. They do not represent the company well. The executive chairman is nice but the rude/minsunderstood ceo calls all the shots. Upper management is in a bubble. They pretend that they are about the people and family atmosphere but they aren't. They make executive decisions and don't take managers or "the little guys" into account. The company executives go through routine promotions. They get title changes and pay raises every few months. Even after they make poor decisions that cost the company. They seem to just collect their paycheck and bonus checks. As the saying goes the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. It is almost IMPOSSIBLE for people to get a promotion or raise. People who have been at the company 15+ years are stagnant in their positions. There are many, many people who go to their managers threatening to leave if they don't get a promotion or pay increase. That or they go to their manager with a job offer in hand from another company. That is the typical way of advancing your career at Lyon. If someone isn't worthy of a promotion or pay raise, there are probably other things wrong. Then you need to ask yourself if the person should still be employed with the comapany. If you are a manager or even just an employee, it is difficult to deal with HR. The VP shows favoritism and doesn't follow her own rules when it comes to managing people and having authority to make decisions. When you start with the company, it is common to be warned about dealing with HR. You are advised not to talk to them, whether or not you have a problem or concern. That means a lot of people need help but are too afraid to get it. New employees and managers are told that Once you are on the vp's bad list, you don't come off. And when the HR team loses all of its tenured people in a short handful of months, it is a sign! It's not comforting to think that they are stable or equipped to help the employees. Problem employees are not dealt with, including managers If you have been at the company more than15 years you are golden. It's like they won't touch you. Even if you need to be managed or written up. Won't happen. This can be very discouraging for employees who have to deal with tbe "bad apples." Many employees have submitted their resumes to outside recruiters and routinely keep in touch about other opportunities. No one wants to sell their soul for a paycheck. Lots of people are seeing the light and are leaving. The company needs to recognize that there are other employers looking for good people. Hey, upper management!! People are leaving for a reason!!
