Pros

Good product lines and support from OEM reps. Good benefit package.

Cons

Absolute toxic people and work environment. The office has the upstairs as the corporate Wesgroup Equipment head office and it's not as bad. But the turn over is high, everyone sees it as a stepping stone employer. Downstairs at WM is a night and day difference. Management is the root of the negativity. They yell and intimidate and give zero support. The executives are completely removed from the realistic day to day business. So many employees counting down the days to retirement to collect their union pension. Do not waste your time here, the pay across the board is below industry standard and it's a life sucking black hole.

Williams Machinery Response

Williams Machinery and Wesgroup Equipment adopted the Great Place To Work employee satisfaction survey in 2021 in order to better understand employee sentiment around their peers, managers and the organization. The Great Place To Work Certification is based around trust within the workplace and we are proud of having earned certification in 2021 based on employee feedback. We are always looking for ways to improve and encourage open dialogue with our employees. We review all feedback from current and past employees to try to create the best environment possible. Thank you for your feedback and best of luck in your next role.

Pros

Working at Williams Machinery had its bright spots—especially when it came to the people. The team, particularly those in mid to lower-level roles, made the experience worthwhile. There was a genuine sense of camaraderie and support among peers. Everyone looked out for one another, and that made coming to work something to look forward to. Day-to-day tasks were made lighter just by being surrounded by colleagues who were collaborative, approachable, and willing to help each other out. On top of that, there was a sense of optimism when the company started rolling out new systems, like a fresh CRM and other platforms. It felt, at least for a while, like a step in the right direction—an attempt to modernize and improve efficiency.

Cons

Unfortunately, those bright spots were dimmed by deeper issues that impacted morale and stability. One of the most frustrating parts of working there was the lack of communication from upper management. Feedback was rare, performance reviews were inconsistent, and many people found themselves unsure of where they stood. Then, without warning, layoffs would happen—no heads-up, no performance discussions, just a sudden and unsettling goodbye. It created a culture of uncertainty where even strong performers felt vulnerable. On top of that, those system upgrades that had seemed promising quickly turned into chaos. The company was severely understaffed, and that made it nearly impossible to implement major changes effectively. Instead of improving operations, the transitions often caused more confusion and extra strain on the already stretched team. It became clear that while there were good people working hard on the ground, the leadership and resourcing gaps made it difficult for the company to live up to its potential.

Pros

Great people who treat you incredibly well. A lot of autonomy and trust to do your job well, and plenty of room to advance. Strong pay commission-wise.

Cons

Sales vs. Operations feel at times, with limited communication between departments.
