Pros
•Very fair pay - love the idea of steps every 1000 or so hours, you know when your next raise is coming and how much it will be. •Great business model, and high volume means you stay busy and days fly by. •Company ESOP plan is fantastic. People become millionaires working for winco, and it's very common for longer tenured employees to hold at least six figures worth of stock. •I spent 7 years at WinCo, from high school through my 4 year degree. Management seemed to have interest in me and gave me challenging tasks and opportunities to learn new things.
Cons
•Politics. It could feel like high school sometimes, not exactly a tight knit crew, but then again our store had 100+ employees, many of them young, so I can see this being difficult to prevent. •Management is hit and miss. Store managers always seemed quite competent, but managers in training and assistant managers were iffy at best. The company is expanding and pulling new people into the management ranks at a rapid pace, so some bad apples slip in. Often times MITs and AMs were not fit for the job, had terrible people skills, or simply burned out. Fortunately most who are like this don't make it all the way up to a store manager position.
