Pros

Enjoyable as a job and great customers

Cons

Area managers are the most lazy unhelpful ever worked with they undermine you put half their jobs onto you . The son has taken over and royal hasn't a clue half the staff or managers are walking out, he's a health and safety hazard left the little store space there is is a disaster waiting to happen for staff ,he has just dis it his own qay worh consulting with store managers qhats best way to help your shops. The communication is a non entity ,the uppermanagement are either trying to undermine each other they don't communicate with store managers and really can't be bothered with you As a manager your expected to cover hours if someone doesn't show uo for shift , and your expected to work 7 out of 8 weekends an absolute disgrace of a way to treat staff who have a life outside of the their jobs Often left to man a shop on your own you don't get and peace to eat or go to toilet, also their breakages I the shops are put into unsafe place chances are you could slice yourself open . They change qine promos every 4 weeks and there's no where in your store to store extra stock and they gurn about you having extra stock everywhere when they make you bring the stock in and you know your not gonna sell it !!! The stress of the job is unbelievable, I would avoid it at all costs if you want a life . You don't even get your holidays half time or area managers phone you when your on holidays. If your staff can't do a shift area managers make you do the shifts even if your on holiday

Pros

Flexible hours (depending on manager). Easy enough money.

Cons

Company has no concern for staff welfare. Most shifts will be single-manned, contrary to both common sense and the advice of the PSNI. The days can be slow due to lack of anything engaging for staff. No radio/music allowed in the store, and no genuine rest breaks seem to be permitted when single-manned. The impact that constant lone working has on individuals is not considered. Barring the panic button, very little is offered to make the workplace safe for lone workers, especially those in shops who keep their door locked. In the event of a medical emergency or accident, employees are at serious risk. Customers can sometimes be difficult, however that is admittedly out of the company's control.
