Pros

1st digital bank in the UAE World-wide talent hired by an amazing HR team, (although most people are leaving now, including the Recruiter who hired me)

Cons

- No autonomy, heavily micromanaged, and this is driven by the CEO himself - Terrible culture, it's not usual to see and hear the CEO and the CHRO shouting and yelling at the team on the floor. This is something that those of us from European fintechs are not used too. Apparently it's not the norm in the UAE either, just an issue this leadership has. - Many unfilled promises. Told this would be a hybrid role, 2 days a week in the office, the CEO insists on 3 days a week and he dictates exactly which 3 days you come in. - Huge blame culture as the CEO sets unrealistic deadlines - CHRO has no empathy for her staff - Terrible office location, opposite the airport in Abu Dhabi. No retail outlets close by to get lunch - They've lost 2 key exco members, all the Engineering Directors have resigned within 1 month of the CTO walking out. - All senior leaders come from a corporate background and they're running the business as such -

Pros

Same as any other fintech.

Cons

The culture does not match the brand. Performance ratings felt disconnected from actual contribution, with no transparent link between the work you deliver and how you are assessed or rewarded. Recognition depended heavily on being visible to the right people rather than on the quality of the work itself, and progression paths for specialists were unclear. The culture and HR experience were the weakest part. Decisions and approvals could reverse with little notice and little documentation, and processes were applied inconsistently depending on the situation. HR provides zoer support to employees, and policies could appear or shift without being clearly communicated. Over a short period the company lost a striking number of senior people across all functions, which says a great deal about the level of trust inside the building.
