Pros

Easy-going atmosphere, no overtime, flexible hours, help with visa, and the free private Japanese or English classes for employees is a nice special benefit. The company is not big so it is relatively easy to talk to any staff, and if you need help, usually there is always someone who will try to help you if you ask. The company is more and more focused on people more than profit, and so is improving their career management and human resource area (slowly but surely?) A good start if you want to join the game industry in Japan from abroad.

Cons

Not much organizational structure, not much communication between different teams or job roles, which leads to misunderstanding, failure to understand some company's decisions, or just lack of interest in the company's activities. Despites about 10 years of activity, the company still feels like an inexperienced "start-up" company, but without much or very slow growth. Employees are from different nationalities which creates a good multicultural environment, but the separation between foreign and Japanese staff is quite strong.

Pros

I worked there from 2012 until 2020 and took on many different roles within the company (DevOps, Engineer, Team Leader, Director of Operation). It definitely is a great environment if you want to grow and try all sorts of things. Over the years I saw many come and go and leave the company better than they joined. The CEO is very accepting of growth and truly wants to help people better themselves and their careers. Overall, it was a great learning experience and got me to where I am today. Also from what I have heard, management has changed quite a fair bit since I left, which goes to show they're always trying to do better.

Cons

Some do outgrow the company as I did and move onto new things which is not necessarily a bad thing, but this does mean a change of scenery is needed. The management does try to reform as much as possible rather than terminate, which is good in a way, but does lead to some toxic people sticking around or being in roles that didn't suit them longer than they should have. Since it's a great place to try things, all sorts of people want to try all sorts of things which sometimes conflicts and may not get actioned. This tends to lead to people feeling a slight resentment for not having their choice of direction followed. Although they're always trying to do better, they weren't quite there yet when I was there. This is actually what got me to my role as Director of Operations. Though this can be an opportunity for those who want to grow as they help the company grow.
