Pros
Pros of working at Cree = N O N E.
Cons
The list of cons is endless......... This company has no high level leadership, managers are weak & spineless - they won't ever stand up for you UNLESS you are one of the "boys", or part of their "inner circle". There is no accountability - if you are working on a project with a slacker you will have to do your part and the slackers part. If you aren't part of the tight high level circle within lighting, you will be STUCK in your job and you won't make it no matter how well you perform. You will be ridiculed, belittled, screamed at during meetings, and you will feel worthless. If you have the desire and can manage to suck up enough to make it into the inner circle: * You can do no wrong. * You can lose NINE employees on your team within a year and KEEP YOUR JOB. * You will be respected and listened to by high level managers. * You are allowed to ignore the Cree "values". * You can scream and yell at your direct reports, and make unreasonable demands on a daily basis. * You can sweep problems under the carpet instead of addressing them. * You are allowed to wait until a problem becomes a COMPLETE disaster - meaning the company is about to lose millions of dollars in business OR about to be sued before you have to do something about it. Proactive thinkers this isn't the place for you! * Value - "Cree is WE" becomes Cree is ME. * Value "Sandbagging will not be tolerated" - What do you call waiting until a problem becomes a DISASTER before doing something about it? Um - hello high level execs - ITS CALLED SANDBAGGING. If you are a mechanical engineer, and think plastic is a good heat- sink, work here. If you are a quality engineer and think its a good idea to qualify counterfeit electronic components for use in products- work here. If you don't want to live long, or desire to have low self esteem - work here. High level managers/directors will steal resources & give projects/direction without bothering to talk to their immediate manager. One of the recently promoted directors has no people skills and shouldn't be allowed to manage anyone. God help you if you report to this guy. You can go from having a good performance review to a "performance improvement plan" in the blink of an eye without any indication of a problem. If this happens to you, they want you out the door.
