When Training is not Training - Instructional Designer Wonderware Employee Review

Pros

Wonderware can be a open type of environment. Food is provided (in some capacity), drinks, snacks. The company promotes a very touchy feely environment, yet once you are there for awhile you realize that is not true. The Benefit package is good.

Cons

Management is incompetent at best. The person who caused the most problems in the Training department was promoted to Manager and she has been there now for years even though upper-management is dissatisfied with her. Her lack of respect for the people who work in the department is massive, yet she and others are still working at Wonderware/Invensys and will probably protect themselves enough to keep their jobs.

Pros

Fast pace. Always something new to learn, never bored. Great management, very supportive.

Cons

There's a lot to learn about this industry if you're not familiar with it. It will take a year or so to become comfortable with the terminology and technology.

Pros

The buildings are pleasant. There is an onsite gym. Some people are competent.

Cons

It's a personality driven company. If you are well liked, you can go far, regardless of your level of competence. If the cool kids don't like you, you will not be successful. Project planning is fiction, historical data about previous projects is not considered, all estimates are revised by higher-ups, resulting in all projects being delayed and employees urged to work harder than the 60 hours a week they currently work.
