Pros

- Immense exposure to energy markets, across all commodities - More mature business (compared to new entry competitors with 25% of data vs WM) - 25 days off, no questions, no limit on schedule - Smaller working teams, so more work, but more exposure to clients and real life problems - Direct access to research analysts (many of these now leading in other corporations) - Pre Covid world, a lot of international exposure and travel - Actually a good female/male ratio for an energy company - 5 weeks off paternity leave, 16 weeks of maternity leave - Your analysis can impact governments, regulation, transactions, and corporations - Gain depth of knowledge of energy industry and trends - Highly diverse

Cons

- Consulting, consulting, consulting (expect long hours, and high standards of deliverables) - Some Directors and above are not great at explaining things in detail/mentorship - High stress environment

Pros

Appreciated working with smart, driven colleagues; they were truly experts in their fields. The rigorous schedules we were on were strictly maintained, which usually made for a very organized structure and workload.

Cons

Leadership went through many changes and acquisitions while I was there. The mission seemed to keep changing, and it wasn't easy to maintain consistency in our reports with such leadership changes. Market analysts were often pulled onto consulting projects but were not paid as consultants. This is what pushed me to leave.
