Pros

The World Bank has high standards for quality work, a commitment to responsible and sustainable development projects, and a management team that tries to listen to staff and respond to their concerns.

Cons

Unfortunately, management pays little to no attention to issues facing short-term consultants (STCs). Depending on the team lead, there can be blatant exploitation and abuse of STTs and STCs, with no institutional protection. For those with greater levels of vulnerability, due to visa status, gender, etc, this can result unreasonably high working risks of pressure to work without pay, and/or blatant harassment. Understandably, morale among this sub-class of workers is abysmal.
