The bank provides a lot of perks that are not an option for many employees among the world like sick leave days on full salary, maternity/paternity leave for a prolonged length, and focus on equality among colleagues.
Cons
Yet, it seems that ‘equality’ is bringing some negatives: - No matter how good you are, as long as you are coping with your job - you will get the same salary increase as average ‘Joe’ (max difference of 1-2%). This leads to situation where people are not putting much effort. Also, when you start in the bank - you will never receive market level pay (Specialized IT positions)->anything above the mid point of the range is utopia. - There is no differentiation in the pay between industries and this leads to challenges hiring new colleagues (especially in the IT), but the workload is quite high On top of that there is no more work from home - the mandate requires 4 days in the office and despite there is some flexibility about how many hours you should go to the office , it’s pointless to come for half a day. This causes real challenges in hiring skilled professionals (IT).You have to work on a daily basis with IT colleagues that do not want to learn, nor have the skills for their job and ‘incompetence’ could be a very suitable word in many occasions . You really start appreciating things you have taken for granted in other companies. The workload is above average (90%-95% of your business hours) and your team never gets people to take some of the workload. Constantly being in meetings (because the colleagues do not understand the topic) forces you to skip your breaks (which is bad for your eyes). Promotions happen very rarely. Some colleagues are promoted after 10+ years of employment.
