Wright Foundation

Is this your company?

Your entire life will begin to revolve around the Wright Foundation - Full Time Staff Wright Foundation Employee Review

Pros

-room for advancement and above average pay if you advocate for yourself -(most) staff members are very kind hearted -much of the curriculum is actually very interesting, growth-oriented, and helpful -if you like to yell/cry/be fully expressive of ALL your emotions at work, there is no better place to do it than here.

Cons

-organization is run by CEO Bob Wright and his wife, Judith Wright. You will never ever ever see Judith outside of the weekly staff meeting and, if you're a new staff member, the mandatory unpaid Tuesday evening training seminar that she leads each week. Bob, under the guise of "full expression"-- a tenet of the Wright Foundation's curriculum-- frequently yells at, swears at, and belittles staff. Some find him to be manipulative and aggressive. However, some staff really love him so your mileage may vary. -You will be expected to attend the 3-hour weekly Tuesday training program for an entire year. This also includes four weekend-long (5pm Friday-9pm Sunday) training sessions each year. To be fair, for some, this might be a positive as it is free to full-time staff. You will also be expected to attend at least three more full weekend-long training sessions that are located in their graduate campus in Wisconsin. Finally, you are required to attend a "summer intensive" in which you will be working/learning from 6am-11:30pm every day for nine days straight. You will not be compensated for this time. In short, expect to give the Wright Foundation approximately 400 additional hours of your time for free. There is no exception to this requirement. -You will not be offered any vacation days in your first year and the company never closes (read: you must use one of your few personal days to take government holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, etc off). -There is a highly-engrained culture perpetuated by long-term full-time staff where what Bob says is taken as Scripture and the organization will turn their strategy on a dime to meet his demands. Those who push back against this are often told they have authority issues (Again, to be fair, the Wright Foundation curriculum asserts that everyone has authority issues).

Pros

This career opportunity really helped me stretch and problem solve in a way I never thought possible. I appreciate the experience I had working here as I gained valuable skills in SEI, how to work with other people more successfully, and how to value personal responsibility.

Cons

If you desire a true 9-5, this is not the place for you.

Pros

Nothing here was worth mentioning as positive.

Cons

Supposedly a regular job but push you to engage in their program, and then expect unpaid overtime they call volunteer work.
