I recently encountered a concerning situation during a candidate's final interview. Despite the candidate's exemplary performance throughout the recruitment process, including completing a two-week mini-project and acing all tests, the final interview was abruptly cut short due to minor audio issues. The candidate promptly resolved the problem by switching to AirPods and continued communicating via chat. However, the CEO unexpectedly left the call and did not return, despite follow-up attempts. When I reached out to request a reschedule, the CEO cited the technical difficulties as a barrier to future collaboration, which left me perplexed. As someone with extensive experience in HR, I find it unprecedented for a company to deny a reschedule over such a minor setback. This experience has raised doubts about the company's recruitment practices and professionalism. Additionally, it's worth noting that my own interview experience with the CEO, when invited to serve as a freelance recruiter, was also less than satisfactory, as he failed to attend without explanation. Despite these experiences, I remained open-minded and sought clarification, but the lack of communication and flexibility from the CEO is disappointing.
