Pros
The benefits are good, and the company has a well-deserved reputation for taking care of its employees. Most employees seem to really enjoy their jobs and their experience with the company. Many employees have been with the company for ten if not twenty years. While this limits opportunities for promotion, there are many opportunities to grow professionally and expand skill sets.
Cons
While most departments are well-run, a few have earned a reputation for mismanagement and poor treatment of employees. In these departments, communication is poor, and the only way to learn the expectations for a project is to wait until being reprimanded for failing to meet them. Salaried employees may often be expected to work especially long hours without consideration for comp time.
