Pros

Great group of people working in the gas department, the culture of helping and teaching new comers and apprentices how to do quality work and passing on the trade to the next generation of fitters is satisfying. The wages are very good, and there are plenty of opportunities for overtime. The boots on the ground in all departments truly care about personal and public safety and customer satisfaction. The union contract provides some excellent perks.

Cons

The HDHP is pretty much just catastrophic insurance. The distance between management and field employees in terms of communication and being on the same page even on the smallest of issues is frustrating and the customer experience and customer service suffers as a result. There is a ton of financial waste and small changes could be made to make a huge difference. Management continues to push for more and more work to be done by the contractors. Lots of nepotism- a large majority of new hires have a family member that works there.

Pros

Work-life balance, okay benefits, and cemented impact on the community

Cons

Because the company has a bottom line, promotional paths aren't really a thing beyond individual contributor to manager. I don't know what the next level up would be besides that.
