Good place to gain experience, bad place to develop. - Animal Technician Xenometrics Employee Review

Pros

If you want to learn how things go, there are tons of people willing to teach you the ropes. You'll get studies quickly.

Cons

When I was working there as a tech, you did not get paid for what you did. Overtime is fine, but don't exhaust your good employees, reward them. There was a certain high-ranking manager that brought the entire sites morale down, but I heard they left, so I added a star.

Pros

Flexible schedule. You work when it is "go time" and leave when everyone is done for the day. You get to pick and choose your after hours and holidays (it's science...you will have to work some after hours) The people are the nicest, most helpful people I have ever worked with. The biggest pro is you get to learn and do a lot. Everyday is different and you gain new skills everyday so you will have a glittering resume after a year or so.

Cons

Working after hours. Yeah it stinks but I just get some ice cream before, and they are understanding with after hours. The new training program is not the best, but they are working on fixing that to make it more effective.

Pros

I worked at Xeno for about 1 year. I enjoyed my time there, I worked in the chemistry department. I know there are lots of reviews for animal lab techs, and they seemed unhappy and were worked harder than I was. I was by myself most of the day which I liked, just mixed up formulations and revised papers for the program directors. Hours were good, worked 6 am to 2 pm most days. Rarely weekends. Would have worked here longer, but I left to go to medical school. Decent benefits. Positive work environment (for me). Great co-workers.

Cons

-Not great at giving direction, had no clue who my direct boss was for months -Senior boss was negative, I avoided him like the plague, thankfully I didn't run into him often -My interview was horrendous, the senior boss (see above comment) interviewed me. If I wasn't desperate, I never would have taken the job based off his demeanor during the interview. The senior boss told me I "wasn't that bright". Direct quote. My reaction was I laughed and asked him why we were still having the interview then. He gave me the job right then. I know he was just messing with me, but it was very unprofessional. I left this job to go to medical school. I'm bright lol. -No way to move up, as other reviewers have stated, but it is a decent entry level job right out of college -they know employees are going to leave, and thus treat them as expendable. Kind of a vicious cycle.
