Pros
- The culture is great with friendly people. - Challenging projects to build experience.
Cons
- Part of the salary is paid in expenses, even if it is not illegal but arguable as you may be working remote. After a few years and with experience, you will consider leaving because the salary, never above average, has implications in long term on you. - This depends on the department where you will work, but you can end up working with technologies that are not widely used (e.g. Xamarin, Pentaho, Hitachi Lumada, Sitecore, ...) due to the company partnerships and positioning in the market. - Depending on the situation by situation and how you manage it, you can at some point have burnout here. Be careful!! Because you will be doing above your responsibility, particularly if you are a junior. - Even if your role is remote there will be "invitations" to join a project on-site mostly due to lack of allocation or people but "they" will tell you it is a good challenge to grow your experience and bla bla. Basically, it is good for you but not for the company that will cash in with your lower salary. This will happen even for Xpanders at North where they will be "invited" to work in Lisbon or other place for a client at some point in time. Xpand will cover the accommodation and a small per diem but you will not be in a hotel as you should deserve in case it is Lisbon, you will be living in a house/apartment that the company rents for other Xpanders in your situation. - Basically, this company will do everything as most as possible to be cheap. As the Portuguese tech industry is booming this company has opened an office branch in Croatia. Why? To keep to be cheap as most as possible. - The company charge above-average rates to the customers due to the way it is positioned in the market, mostly in niche markets/tech and the reputation built over the years. Therefore, this company has good margins that you will never know because the company doesn't have full transparency in their financials. You will know the revenue and a few more KPI's that's it. The rest is paid in bonus to the management. - Again, it depends by situation, but you can end up being part of a team where the other teammates work less and they are better paid than you. - When you try to negotiate a pay raise that you deserve, they will find excuses to not meet expectations. Yes, the reviews in this company can be a joke. - To finalize, an EPIC culture of people you will find but not an EPIC company in everything else. If you are a Junior you will find a great company to start because you will learn a lot not only professionally. If you are mid or senior don't even border to consider joining, you find better elsewhere.
