      Pros

      Benefits, christmas and new years off.

      Cons

      Extremely understaffed with management, at least in certain departments. 2-4 jobs being covered by one person, with constantly higher performance expectations. Set up for failure. No personal life because you're trying to do so many jobs and constantly under pressure.

      In academia, where salaries are generally lower than in the corporate sector, there can be a disproportionate amount of arrogance because many people are motivated by prestige and status rather than financial compensation.
