Pros
You are well looked after in the recruitment process, They give you plenty of notice with what stage you're at in hiring and what to expect with the onboarding. They give you an induction as grads explaining what Yancoal is and does, and you're given a mentor. They have a living out of home allowance for some of the grads who have had to move for the role. Every mine site is different with their culture and rules, so reviews and opinions vary depending on where you're placed.
Cons
Salary contract, so any overtime hours you do aren't paid for, For example you are paid 7.6 but are doing 9 hours minimum everyday, and most staff stay back 30 minutes to an hour still working. Expectations and workloads are also very irregular and you don't know where you're at till there is the performance review. This can lead grads to becoming burnt-out very early in their careers. It is also a very male dominated industry still, so you may enter the workforce with coworkers less understanding if you're a woman. The work/live balance is still an area to improve, many are required to be in the office to work, and the men that are successfull and happy with their hours are only because they have someone at home taking care of their needs and their childrens. So it only is given 3 stars because if compared to other industries and jobs it isn't as balanced for work/life.
