Lots of old code, understaffed for any sort of big refactor effort

Small company, big goals and fun co-workers.

No career management or path. Instead of focusing on innovative product features, the company was seemingly run to bolster the careers of upper management and the founders. The end users were left with a stagnant feature set that to this day is so buggy not even an ex-employee would want to use it.
