EVERYTHING else! Illegal breaks policy - this company do not comply with government guidelines. HR are a joke! No heating ( they won’t fix it after it being ‘broken’ for 2 years) dipped to almost freezing on numerous occasions. When I informed Head Office, you’re just told to work harder! You couldn’t feel your extremities after 10 minutes in store! Staff were in coats and thermals from November to March! Summer however, the store is boiling! Ridiculous workload! Expected to get the delivery out, work the tills, deal with constant requests and stock-takes from Head Office, provide great customer service and run two other departments within the store ( clothing and haberdashery sections) with as little as one staff member and a manager! Not just occasionally either! To achieve what the company required needed 5 staff and 2 managers all day, every day. You were lucky if you got 2 managers and 2 half day staff most of the time. Constantly living under threat of dismissal. Terrified to speak out as ‘We own you’ Family run business ( family running business into the ground more like!) Some H/O staff lovely. But were leaving in droves. I have worked previously for companies with very poor reputations. Nothing has been worse than this one! I was really excited about working for Yorkshire Trading. I read the terrible reviews and thought they were probably exaggerated or from work-shy slackers! Not true! Training is terrible, working conditions are terrible, pay is below average, Health & Safety is laughable, you are given no protection from violent shoplifters, no care is given to your wellbeing at all! As the returns policy is so awful, there’s almost constant complaints from customers. It’s a difficult environment to be in for all concerned. Workload is totally unachievable on the staffing levels and salary requirements dictated by the company. Please do not even think about leaving another job for this company. Even a zero hour contract! They have no loyalty to their Staff and Managers. I worked for them for under a year. In that time I was personally aware of at least 30 people leaving, and it’s only a small company! You lose decent, hardworking, lovely people because you do not care about your staff. You think there is always ‘better’ out there. You end up in a worse position every time. Sorry about the length of this review, I could write pages and pages more on just how awful this Company is. Please do your research before working for them.
