Pros
No Crunch! No Crunch!!! 9/80 schedule!!! Yeah! Management encourages a healthy and happy lifestyle outside of work. Family before work motto. If you have a sick family member or a death in the family, the company is extremely supportive! Even in good family events like a new baby, the company celebrates your growing family with emails and signed cards. The studio manager is even known to drop a surprise gift for the new father/mother. Great place to work if you love your life outside of work. Great place to work for programmers and engineers.
Cons
The company is like a confused teenager going through an identity crisis. The company is desperately wanting to make the next big money maker but has no idea what that is and therefore lacks direction. The focus is too much on making money as opposed to making games. Artists are dreadfully undervalued and have very little voice. This is a tech company. You can see this in the games. The technical aspects are wonderfully and expertly executed while the art is sub par. The company has a "design on the go" mentality. Because of the focus on money, management is afraid to take risks and do not want to spend money on pre-production to create a beautiful package of art, design, and technical execution. Nepotism. Positions of leadership are based on seniority and very little on talent and ability. Alpha mentalities are rewarded. Talent, while recognized, is not rewarded or promoted. Programmers are an exception to this. Very little team feeling. It is often felt you are a machine of production as opposed to being a talented professional with something valuable to offer to the conversation. Little to no sense of growth opportunities.
