Pros

Top-heavy surface perks like free lunch once a week, free beer, and free liquor - the company sells itself as the "cool" company, and invests in that image

Cons

An empty shell of a company that dazzles with its promises of free booze and ping pong, management makes no bones about the fact that the culture is essentially, "work now, sleep in a couple years once the company starts making money." Rather than spend their money investing in the future of the company via appropriate staffing (there is no IT department, and admin support is practically non-existent), resources are put towards keeping the bar stocked. If you are a salaried employee, the expectation is that you are always on-call and available to work late/weekends. For all departments, working long hours is the rule, not the exception, so work/life balance suffers as a result. All of this is meant to be worth it because of the free booze, but what the company really seems to be doing is investing in the image of Zipwhip as a fast-growing, awesome place to work. Building the actual company, and investing in the resources to make sure the staff are supported, is secondary.
