Pros

Zirous knows how to keep people happy, and you'll probably get to work with competent people who know what they are doing. WLB is great.

Cons

If you aren't management's favorite, you'll constantly get passed up for every opportunity and will be largely ignored. Mgmt has no direction or strategy whatsoever. You'll likely work on crap codebases with minimal attention to good code practices. Expect to gain little to no marketable skills if you aren't lucky. You're nothing but a billable resource. Developers are disposable. You will be severely underpaid, and won't receive any significant monetary compensation for your extra work. I literally make 5x what I used to at Zirous.

Thanks for the feedback and it's great to hear your satisfaction! Please do know providing competitive compensation is very important to leadership at Zirous. Along with benchmarking our benefit plans annually, we benchmark our positions internally and externally to ensure we are as competitive as we can be as a small employer. Thanks again for sharing the review! - Team Zirous

Pros

Competitive salary for most, or at least it used to be that way. Hybrid work.

Cons

Yikes.... run away quickly. You have to log your hours every week, and almost always have to work overtime. Leadership operates in a tight knit clique yet none of them have any business acumen at all. Politics are a very clear unfortunate part of the workplace with Fox News on the TV all the time. There are so many immature people in leadership positions that can't get along with one another or their direct reports. Not to mention the several pairs of father/son or family members working together and crazy favoritism. If you're not related to leadership- don't worry! You just have to be young and blonde, and you'll become a fast favorite. Promotion opportunities are a joke and just meant to placate you so you don't leave. You may get a raise or a new title but your responsibilities stay the same. But by that point, you're locked into such a niche tech stack that you can't leave anyway. They have done at least one round of layoffs in 2025, and people were resigning left and right when I left. RUN.
