Pros

You are building one of the most popular video conference software since covid 19. Or perhaps I am wrong, you are enhancing minor features and minor bug fixes.

Cons

Toxic engineering culture, need to work with the original engineering team in China pretty much every night to be on track. You don't have permission to merge the code, your peers in China can merge the code. You are just a robot to build minor features and fix bugs. Engineering managers only care about themselves, when there is a probably, it is the engineers' responsibility, not theirs. Engineers needs to communicate with PM's and designers, managers just sit and watch. If you can't speak Chinese, you gonna have a hard time working as an engineer with the China team, Chinese all over the zoom chats, prepare your Google Translate.

Zoom Communications Response

Hello, and thank you for your feedback. At Zoom, we offer a variety of opportunities on our Engineering teams across all of our products and locations. Product, UX, Engineering and DevOps need to work closely together to build and launch our world-class services. It’s in our culture. Generally speaking, code merges are assigned by role across regions, which is customary at most global tech companies. While we do collaborate closely with all of our global teams, we work hard to include everyone by requiring the use of English across our communications like chat, email and code documentation. If you are running into issues communicating with anyone at Zoom, especially related to your job, please work with your manager and involve your People Experience Business Partner. We care about your success and well-being at Zoom, and want to help. Thanks again for leaving a review.

Pros

Great place to work. The solutions are always evolving. I can make a change.

Cons

We don't do a good job of telling the world that we are more than meetings. Our agile mindset sometimes moves too fast.

Pros

Nothing about this company is worth noting.

Cons

One of the worst companies I have worked at. Management and leadership are disorganized and unsupportive. Employees get treated like dogs and are talked down to. No work life balance because everything is an escalation or because some “head” requested something. For a company so well regarded, they sure know to how be cheap and take away benefits. Parental leave is basically a slap you in the face. Comp is high but expect to have that dangled in your face or else you get let go. On site lunch and breakfast is nice but how much can you sugar coat the terrible work conditions with little snacks? Everything is such a mess. I’ve been here for almost 7 months and have not met a single person that enjoys their job. DO NOT JOIN ZOOM!
