Just a depressing place to work - Outbound SDR ZoomInfo Employee Review

Pros

Solid place to learn about sales if you're just getting into the workforce like I was. Overtime pay that is consistently encouraged but almost never NOT approved.

Cons

Where do I start... They lie to you constantly. Unlimited PTO! unless its end of month, end of quarter, end of year. Oh but if you're friends with your manager you'll be fine. I was told I couldn't get PTO for end of the month yet another teammate who was performing just as well as me got 4 days off at the end of the month. Zero empathy for people going into office. First off you were told that it was going to be 1x / week going in but turned into 3 now its looking to be 4. They set it to a 30 mile radius but that screws over people that live in high traffic areas like myself who drive bare minimum 1hr to work. And we aren't getting compensated for parking in the building's garage (comes out to $120 per month btw). Like I said if you're friends w management they'll let things slide like a friend of mine who was the same distance away but wasn't pressured to go into office. CONSTANT micromanagement. They also hold you to metrics that are ultimately out of your control. "You need 10+ phone connections" tough to control someone else picking up their phone from a number they don't know lets be real. I can't speak for AE's and AM's but for the majority of SDRs the compensation and commission sucks. Inbound SDR's don't even get commission for closed deals. Outbound SDR's get a fraction of a fraction of closed deals and its taxed 50% so you barely see anything from your hard earned money. Daily morning and end of day meetings where you go over metrics from the day that the whole team can already see during the day...COMPLETE WASTES OF TIME. The only way you succeed is by putting in far more than 40hr weeks.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review here. We care tremendously about our employees' ability to thrive here and can assure you that no one got their job because “they’re friends with management”. They're here because they've got the grit, the attitude, the skills, and the smarts, and they add something to the culture we care about. They keep their job because they perform and are good team members to others. As you know our CEO, Henry, believes in the Return to Office, and we’ve had an RTO policy since the beginning of the year, while it has been mandatory since then, he has tried to give everyone time to adjust to a new normal. We have come to the point where he believes the benefits of the RTO policy outweigh the additional time for adjustment. We want to see you thrive and enjoy our culture, if you have additional thoughts on how we can become better, we would love to know by reaching out to your HR Business Partner. Thank you.

Pros

ZoomInfo has an incredible company culture that truly stands out-- even working remotely, you feel connected and part of something bigger. The company has a strong focus on being a leader in its space and is constantly innovating, which keeps the work exciting and meaningful. There is a genuine willingness to let ideas and concepts flourish, and employees are empowered to contribute in real ways. I am coming up on four years here, which speaks for itself-- this is a place where you can grow, get promoted quickly, and build a real career. The development resources are outstanding, including McKinsey Leadership programs, internal leadership courses, and LinkedIn Learning. Managers are supportive and invested in your success which makes showing up to work exciting

Cons

At times, communication between departments can be a challenge at the individual contributor level, which can make cross-functional collaboration feel a bit siloed. Additionally, there is still work to be done around diversity in leadership-- increasing representation of people of color and women in leadership roles would make an already great culture even stronger.

Pros

Great management in the CS org. Very little micromanagement, and lets you do your job as you see fit. Promotes work life balance and tend to be real people. Collaborative teams, usually willing to help each other out wherever needed. Good room for growth if you are performing well and are vocal about wanting to move up.

Cons

Salary could be higher for the market, and for how many products you are expected to work with and specialize in. Communication from marketing and leadership directly to clients could be more effectively communicated to the client facing roles prior to reaching the client.

Thank you for sharing your experience in the CS organization and for all you've done for ZoomInfo. I'm proud of the culture of collaboration and support that we've worked hard to build, so it's wonderful to hear that it's paying off for you. I believe that people do their best work when they're empowered; and that means autonomy, flexibility and freedom to get creative. That's how we innovate. I appreciate your candid feedback on cross-functional communication and product complexity. Platform simplification is an important near term goal for the whole company, and we're investing to move in the right direction. Thank you again for your feedback. It's helping us continue improving how we support our teams and equip client-facing employees for success. – Whitney Littman, ZoomInfo VP of Customer Success
