This company has survived for many years on the hope and prayers that one day it will undo everything the founders did to trick people and will actually do what’s right for its customers. Well, it will never happen. Every idea is more trickery. Not one original idea has come from these new people that were urgently hired because the existing employees supposedly mismanaged everything and don’t know how to work hard. All I know is before these new people got here, we were all working hard, believed in the company, willing to stick it out, and happy to come to work. It didn’t matter to me if I was working on boring projects because I believed in what it was setting us up to do later. Now I dread each day and as a manager I’m at a loss when my team asks me why they should stay. I’m out of reasons. Another person leaves each day or tells me about their plan to leave. I wish them well because I know it’s the right move. They seem worried about me for staying - pity is the worst thing to see in a coworkers eyes.
