Pros

Great learning platform for junior roles. Exposure to all investment asset classes quickly builds knowledge. Fairly flat culture, analysts are able to join investment meetings with portfolio managers from day 1 which is invaluable exposure. Great people and culture. Foodie culture with monthly team lunches and fantastic social events throughout the year. Company conferences abroad once a year which is a nice bonus.

Cons

At more senior levels, role quickly becomes repetitive. Ultimately the business is focused only on the bottom line leading to very poor staff retention as salaries are 30% behind industry standard. Huge staff turnover leading to inconsistent quality of output as new members come up to speed and hasty lower quality hires at times.

Pros

- Everyone is very friendly. No big egos. People genuinely want to do good work and help each other out. - Annual company trip abroad which is fun.

Cons

- Not very challenging. Manager selection is essentially just copy-and-pasting data into Powerpoint. - Financial deadlines are often prioritised above good client work. Projects can be rushed through to ensure they are reflected in a given quarter, rather than completed with the care and time the client deserves. - The company does not have much direction. No one seems to know long-term plans or goals. Teams are very siloed. The focus is purely hitting revenue targets for a given year.
