Pros

Benefits, benefits, benefits. Very generous 401k and pension. BP also offers health club subsidies and a lot of other small benefts. Vacation is average (2 weeks to start, 3 weeks at 5 yrs, 4 weeks at 10 yrs etc.) and they USED to offer a flexible 9/80 work schedule but this is being eliminated as of the first of the year.

Cons

It is an extremely large company and its easy to get lost in the mix. There is also a lot of rotation among the higher ups and most of the higher ups are from overseas, leaving little chance of an American making high up in the company. They also do a poor job of communicating details among the ranks. The "Forward Agenda to 2010" was a giant sham of smoke and mirrors. Senior management will look like a geniuses in a couple years primarily due to market timing. They appear to have done very little to change things and don't do a good job of sharing it if they do.

Pros

Benefits are better than most companies - great matching, HSA, pensions, and bonuses. The culture was great too, middle management was a pleasure to work with.

Cons

It’s easy to get stuck in one position if you’re a high performer. Seemed like if you’re good at your job you get stuck there while others get a lot more mobility. The options I had to move were all within the same sphere, great if you like what you are currently doing but not so much otherwise. Also, expect a re-org every 2-3yrs, change can be good but it was often disruptive during my tenure.
