Pros
Initial opportunity to contribute to a well-known brand in AI education.
Cons
My experience contributing content (as a ghostwriter) was unfortunately characterized by an editorial process that felt dismissive of deep technical expertise and standard scientific conventions. Editorial Overreach: Feedback often focused on enforcing a simplistic "house style" that conflicted with established technical terminology and clarity for an expert audience. Attempts to discuss these points constructively were met with condescension. It felt like domain knowledge was undervalued compared to arbitrary stylistic rules. Lack of Respect for Contributors: Interactions with editorial staff (who appeared to be contractors, not full-time employees) felt hierarchical and lacked the peer-to-peer respect expected when collaborating with subject matter experts. There was a clear expectation of compliance over collaboration. Misalignment with Brand Promise: While the brand promotes itself as a leader in AI education, the editorial process seemed geared towards superficial, beginner-level content, actively resisting technical depth and nuance. This feels misaligned with the needs of experienced practitioners. Limited Growth Opportunity: The nature of the work (ghostwriting simplified content) offered little opportunity for skill development or building professional credit. The primary requirement seemed to be adherence to a rigid, often technically questionable, style guide.
