poor work life balance. - new surveyors have been turned down after interviews when they mention they have young families and will want a good work life balance. - Salary is based on a 7.5 hr day (always working 10-15 hrs days and work still outstanding needing to be done on weekends and days off to prevent a backlog snowball affect the following working week/days) - told by Senior management that if its a 9 till 5 your looking for then this isn't the industry for you. - most supporting departments and line managers all finish work as more reasonable times when surveyors are still working into the mid to late evenings (made harder when the other support have finished leaving you to do it alone) - only know what work/how long your day might be the afternoon beforehand (no personal life planning really possible) - obsessed with capacity filling diaries without thought of what work may be backing up - additional tasks not factored into your daily task/hours resulting in constant stop start of work flow and ultimately long days - will throw you under the bus even when you did cover yourself in reports which would protect the company in court, but bow down to prevent a court claim proceeding even though they would win (due to costs being more than just paying the claimant off). Get a mark against your record for this. - promote a team spirit in the company - couldn't be further from the truth! especially for us Lone workers (often feel forgotten about - even though there is literally no company without us). - a one size fits all approach to work procedure/volume of work when every area is different (some same properties day in day out for all jobs, other different type property for every single job every day - one takes much longer than the other but they do no seem to understand this even when told repeatedly)
