Pros
A great learning experience for people new to sales. Daily coaching from Bill, who has a tremendous amount of sales knowledge and experience. Every call is a learning opportunity. The sales navigation Bill employs lets you get your own feet wet, then listen and learn as he closes, which really lets you hit the ground running. Once you show that you can close on your own, he gives you the breathing room to do your own thing, then gives you feedback. He also doesn't force his methodology on you if you try something a different way and get positive results. He's a great mentor (and a great guy). There are some negative reviews on here that I honestly don't get. The compensation structure: we get a base draw against commission, and yes, you have to earn that back out before you start making commission money. But anyone with any kind of research or experience in Sales can tell you this is not atypical (a lot of jobs don't even offer a base draw), and more importantly, the reviews on here saying it's not possible to earn commission at eLeadCorp are flatout wrong. I'm earning commission less than 6 months into this job. My paycheck shows that it's 100% doable if you actually focus and apply yourself instead of mindlessly punching the clock like you're dunking fries at McDonald's. I haven't had to put in more hours to do it, either. I work the standard 8 to 5 work day with an hour lunch break (and half-day on most Fridays). I've never had to stay late or put in extra hours, nor has Bill ever asked me to. We occasionally (every couple months or so) have a dinner meeting at a local restaurant after work. Attendance is encouraged but OPTIONAL (and it comes with a free meal and drinks). I can tell at least one of these negative reviews is from a disgruntled person who was fired after performing poorly, having a negative attitude, coming in late, taking long breaks, texting during work hours, and missing work (justifiably let go after a no call/no show). Her review seems to leave all that out. The bottom line: the BDR position at eLeadCorp is a great learning experience and an ideal start for someone looking to get into sales. The culture in the office is great. Bill fosters a positive, motivational environment, and the core team of people here are all great to work with. You have to meet performance goals to earn commission, but it is entirely achievable. Multiple people have achieved it while I've been here, including me. And no, my name isn't Maura.
Cons
The current office doesn't have windows. I don't mind, it helps me focus (and the atrium downstairs where we take our breaks is beautiful and spacious, with an outdoor seating area), but I know some people might be put off by that. It is cold calling. There's a lot of repetition, and you have to be able to deal with being hung up on or not reaching the person you need on most calls without letting it bother you. You need simple perseverance on a daily basis. Again, this isn't something that bothers me much, but I'm sure it's not for everyone.
