Pros
- People. haku makes it a point to hire the best of the best and it shows with the coworkers here. Across all internal teams, everyone performs at an exceptional level while being friendly at the same time. - Opportunity. haku works with some of the largest companies in the world regarding the maret space and is more than valuable for building your resume. - Always something new. No two days are the same, for better or worse haha.
Cons
- Shifting promises. Coming out of college, one of the deciding factors that made me choose haku over my other options included their "unlimited" PTO and WFH opportunities. In my experience, neither of these were offered as presented. My management made it very clear to me that my understanding of both of these did not meet their expectations. While others could take advantage of these opportunities offered company wide, I was told I needed to "earn" them on multiple occasions. - Lack of clear opportunity to advance. When discussing next steps for my role with my management, I was met with aggression and was dismissed when asking for details such as pay increases and titles. Pretty much, I was told to "decide" until I was dismissed at lunch time on a Thursday afternoon. - Lack of support from MY management. This feels mostly unique to my experience so please keep that in mind while the following details follow; my role was never one that was concretely ironed out. I was even asked to detail some responsibilities my role should handle by my supervisor at the time (whom also left ~6 months in). There were multiple instances where I asked my management directly for more work and was met with "Just wait". Ultimately, my management decided we should part ways and blamed my performance on constantly needing to check my work and a suspicion that I was already looking for new work. It is difficult to read your bosses mind, and for whatever reason my management expected this from us on a daily basis. Amongst the produc team, a reoccurring joke we had was "Who is ___ going to tell at next?" I did not have the same level of attention or support compared to my coworkers and managements famous saying of "Sins of the past are sins of the past" did not apply to me. - Work life balance. As other posts have mentioned, this is not a 9-5. There were multiple instances where I stayed after hours or continued work from home after a work day that did not go recognized but almost expected. - False promises. Depending on your management, your results may vary. The very clear UNLIMITED PTO policy was described as "Flexible" to me and the WFH opportunities were the same in my case.
