9yFrom Peter Corbett, CEO, ISL:
First: I'm sorry you had such a bad experience at ISL. Over the years there have been a handful of people that either didn't quite fit, or we had bad timing and had to let them go. I take responsibility for both - either we haven't designed a vetting process well enough for new hires, and/or we didn't have the right kind of work at the right time to keep you on. So - I'm sorry and I wish you well post-ISL.
Second: Regarding snake oil --- I think the team members who are building incredible content, applications and experiences every day would disagree, and I know our clients do too. We're in our 9th year of building this company and all along the way it's been built on a foundation of creating great work for great brands. Snake oil isn't a foundation you can build on.
Third: I won't address all the points in the rant part - but our pay is at our above market for nearly all roles, and the vast majority of team members are very happy. That and the longest tenured employees aren't leaving...it's been at least a year since one with +3 years of tenure has departed!
Finally, I do take your point about being more involved day to day seriously. Unfortunately, you're not in a position to understand more fully that this company is not about "Peter Corbett"...and my involvement day to day. We've built the company such that I can get hit by a bus and it wouldn't matter. I therefore spend much of my time working on things in the NYC office, and across the globe that will help ISL reach its potential over the long run. Me being in DC day today would hinder that -- and wouldn't have enabled the exec team and leadership team to step up and lead. Personally, I would love to be there more. It's a magical place and I feel truly blessed to have helped create ISL...especially ISL at Wonderbread. You won't find better place to work in DC.
