Pros
Working at newsPRos is interesting, challenging and never boring. Creativity is encouraged and rewarded by the company's founder and president. She has high standards, which require a high level of competence and attention to detail. I personally thrive in such an environment. Staff members are allowed considerable latitude to structure their workday and organize their efforts to meet clients' needs. This PR firm maintains a strong focus on providing whatever public relations materials and supports its clients needs, whenever and in whatever format they require it. The work is fast-paced, and sometimes unpredictable. There is no such thing as an "average" day here. The variety of clients served and the wide range of services they require ensures an employee has many opportunities to grow and develop new skills. I've have worked here for 15 years, and I'm hoping I can continue to work here for at least 15 more.
Cons
The job requires exceptional organization skills and a commitment to provide high-quality work every day on what can be brutal deadlines. As a former newspaper reporter, I don't find this problematic, but individuals who want a slower paced environment or more predictability in their work day could be frustrated. In addition, if you don't bring top-notch skills to the table, and if you resent supervision and training, you're likely to be uncomfortable or stressed. newsPRos' clients demand high-quality public relations representation. If you can't consistently deliver this under pressure, work elsewhere.
