Pros
Amazing US team. Ops, PR, Marketing, Government Relations, External Affairs, HR...you name it, this US team from coast to coast was the real deal. Lively conversations, camaraderie, a true sense of "Let's do this!"
It was infectious and an absolute joy to be a part of.
Comp was on par for the position. Benefits were marginal at best.
Cons
Despite US growth and high work ethic, the US team was never given the autonomy it needed to properly function from HQ in China. Funding was steered away from US preventing proper payment of vendors causing irreparable harm to local city, transit, and association relationships. Often times MONTHS lagged to not only get vendors approved, but additional weeks and months to pay those vendors.
Local teams hustled and fought for real estate and partnerships in highly competitive markets only to have the rug pulled out from under them when HQ in China decided they wanted to run the US biz like the China biz. HQ refused to listen to US ELT and numbers/morale began to sag.
Truly sad state of affairs and I feel for those who survived the US layoff.
I'd never work for this company if they were still owned by China.
