Pros

There are no pros. I have been a QA Tester for years and have never experienced anything like this. Thought I would do this to supplement my income - not happening, they are a joke. They wait until an hour before the project ends to say a bug needs more information (even though it was submitted within the first hour that the project was available), then when you don't respond within that hour (because you are in the USA and sleeping because it's the middle of the night) they reject it. I'm sure they use it to get the issues fixed, they just don't actually want to pay you for finding the issues.

Cons

They have a chat where people can ask questions, but nobody ever responds to those questions unless it's other testers. The person managing the project does not respond. The project managers don't have a clue what they're doing or what the project is about. You can get bugs rejected for being out of scope, even when the requirements specifically say that area is included. For example, a .com website - the requirements said to test across the entire site. I found a critical bug (higher paying) and it was rejected as "out of scope" because they said it was only for the UK site - nowhere in the requirements did it say that it was country specific, and I was automatically taken to the USA site because I reside in the USA. If you're not a mind reader, this isn't the company for you. Unfortunately my crystal ball was broken on this day. If you're looking to make real money, this will be a big waste of your time.

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with test IO. I can assure you that while not every test cycle runs as smoothly as we would like, as a growing global company we are working hard to fix the issues -- particularly by having more project leads across compatible time zones. We really do want to pay you! We will not succeed in developing long-term relationships with our tester community if it's not a good deal for testers. If you feel you've been unfairly treated, please use the support chat built into the platform and contact a member of our community team. They are there to make sure issues such as the ones you've raised get dealt with appropriately.
