Pros

There is a real effort to live out the company's values at all levels. I'm given a lot of autonomy in my role and I feel that my manager and colleagues trust me.

Cons

As such a small company, capacity is tight and it can be challenging to get things done. In some ways the pace is fast, but sometimes the limitations in terms of people power can mean changes or new initiatives take a bit longer than expected.

Pros

VChief has been an incredible partner in helping connect me to Chief of Staff opportunities that align with my skills and interests. I have been fortunate to work with 2 incredible nonprofits through VChief placements, where I filled critical gaps during leadership transitions and helped these organizations position themselves for success. I am grateful to VChief for all their work to effectively match their talent pool (like myself) with clients and to support us throughout the consultancy period.

Cons

My pay rate with VChief is a bit lower than the rate I charge other direct clients for my services. Part of this is attributable to the work VChief does to identify clients, manage the matching process, onboard, and provide administrative oversight through the process -- all support and functions I truly appreciate. It does, however, mean I have to balance how many clients I accept through VChief due to the lower take home.

Pros

- vChief team truly cares about its consultants and wants us to succeed - Relationship with the placement team (and even some people in Sales/BD) is great - Supportive environment to get comfortable with independent consulting - Ease of contracts, payment, etc. - Variety of clients - Provides resources for how to scope a project, conduct an organizational assessment, etc.

Cons

- Flow of clients is slow at times (cyclical throughout the year) - Black box as to how the placement team decides to suggest candidates to clients - At the ACoS level, some engagements can be quite administrative (which may not be everyone's thing)
