Pros

Remote work, flexible hours. I can literally work anywhere. My bosses promote teamwork based on trust and self-motivation. 401K / Roth options are quite good. The people who I work with are very kind, professional and efficient. I could see myself being friends with some of my co-workers if they lived in the same town as me.

Cons

Engineering has been rewarding, but very challenging. The learning curve is quite steep and requires constant study for certifications. (Fortigate, CCNA). Being a fully remote, sometimes I wish I could "go to the office" to develop in-person connections.

Pros

Initially it will seem like a great place to work but I think this really depends on your role. They try to make it seem like they’re a healthy work environment.

Cons

I think for certain sales roles or any role that generates income, they will cater to. But after a few years working there, I had noticed a lot of favoritism, lies, and no transparency for some people. Also getting absolutely no raises, not even a couple cent raise ever? That’s ridiculous. I never had one bad word said about my work and so many employees were happy with me. So to never get a raise after asking year after year, that was a slap on my face. My last year there I worked hard to leave after I was told no again to a raise because they believed they were paying me premium? If I hadn’t left my old job to go to vCom, I would have been making $20k, more a YEAR during my last year at vCom. I thought I’d be making more after a few years but no. A few months before I was notified I was being let go, I had asked if my job was on the line because I was concerned about the merge and I was told no it wasn’t and that my job would likely integrate after the merge. Couple months later, no warning, no indication that my job was at risk, im told I am being let go. After they made an announcement that they were merging with AppDirect, there were concerns from employees about their jobs which is understandable. CEO and higher ups gave the impression that they wouldn’t just get rid of people just because they were merging. But I know 2 people from the same team, same role, who within just a few days of the announcement were given a 30 day notice of their termination when they were never given any reason prior that their job was ever at risk. It was a complete surprise to them. People talk and they act like they care enough but they really only care to make money and sadly I get that. I’ve spoken to current and former employees who actually don’t agree with how vCom is doing things now but everybody needs a job. I tried for 2 years to leave but the job market is trash and now I’m back to school to be in field where there is stability. Also the pay is horrendous especially if you live in California.
