Pros

The other developers are really cool. Flip flops, jeans, gym shorts... All ok! The kitchen is stocked with snacks top.

Cons

Very hostile environment. Spouses of workers come in to the office and slam doors during business hours because of private relationship problems. Developers/Engineers are frequently given ultimatums through intimidation and manipulation. Several employees have been asked to quit second jobs (not against contract or non-compete) because upper management feels threatened by this. Upper management is also barely ever around, without saying where they are, so prepare to be judged on what they hear of your performance during the few hours they're around. They fire people on the spot if they don't like something you've done or you don't agree with them. Coincidentally, 4 people were fired after quarterly manager evaluations. A couple people have also been terminated in the past after turning in a 2 weeks notice. Then the office received emails saying they "suddenly" resigned. There is a "Performance Improvement Plan", but they fire based on performance all the time without warning. On top of all the lies, deceit and fraud, the pay and benefits are absolutely terrible. It's not even close to being competitive in the area, though they'll claim otherwise. Employees stay because they're tricked into thinking there's a lot of opportunity and room for growth, so eventually it'll be worth it to them. The "opportunity" to grow comes from all the open positions, a result of the 80-100% turnover rate. Health insurance premiums are high and they only cover half. There's no dental or vision insurance, only a reimbursement which was increased from $500 to $750 per year. This only covers so much when you need to go to the eye doctor after staring at a computer screen all day for the job. The 401K is active one year after the first fiscal quarter start date, after your hire date. So you could go 14-15 months without any retirement contributions. A lot of us are young, meaning we don't have the money to open and start our own IRA or 401K without the help of open enrollment through an employer. So you can only put money into savings, if you make enough. Which you won't. The average work week is 50 hours, not including weekend time. Most employees work 200-250 hours per month, but only "billable" hours get recognized. So that could be 160 hours with 50+ "non-billable" hours, but your "utilization" ( based on billable hours ) will be ~90-100%, yet you could be completely overworked. One last thing, the managers constantly gossip. Constantly. But if you are helping another coworker through a rough time, especially pertaining to work, you are perceived as being a part of the problem. It's just not a healthy environment.

Pros

The developers/programmers are very nice people to work with. Sadly management does not see how important they really are to the company as many are let go or eventually forced to resign; due to the state of things. Value your employees more then your desks!

Cons

Management is very deceitful. The fact that the company is small in size is used by management as a type of propaganda tool to promote that "Everyone's position/spot is always available". This couldn't further from the truth. Most employees put in countless additional hours and go well above and beyond their job duties to make up for managements disconnect concerning their own business. There is little to no compensation for these additional hours. The retention rate is terrible; in my own duration of time in the company I saw a 100% turnover rate. Management is very unprofessional; the top tier of management only come into the office about a few hours a month. Additionally, management creates a hostile environment by means of intimidation. If someone voices any type of concern they are immediately intimidated by the team of upper management. Suggestions of process are asked of- from the developers and denied, and then eventually instated as the "Managers idea". Again, the environment is very unprofessional. The top tier of management also gossip about personal employee situations during the workday. I saw several employees who were resigning give a professional 2-week notice and were terminated on the spot. Avoid this company, it would be a complete mistake in your early career. Remember that words and actions are two different things. A stone not worth stepping on.

Pros

Casual attire (not business casual; jeans and flip flops are acceptable). Opportunity to work face to face with clients.

Cons

Management is deceitful, inept and pays well below fair market value. Sadly there are a few amazing employees who manage to keep the place afloat - but you do not want to be one of them. Long hours (some employees often working 300+ hours per month) with little to show for it is the best you can hope for. If you cannot find another job, stay here only as long as you must.

Emprise Technologies Response

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but here is a fact; In the 16 year history of the company, only on three occasions has an employee logged more than 300 hours in a month. Working that much is not encouraged and clearly does not occur often as this review insinuates.
